RESIDENTS BRING PARK(ING) DAY TO DALLAS TOMORROW SEPTEMBER 16TH

15 Sep

PARK(ing) Day is an annual event where citizens, organizations, and businesses temporarily transform metered parking spaces into short term public “PARK” installations. Rather than parking a car, the metered space is used to promote human use and activity for downtown employees, residents and visitors.

On Friday, September 16, 2011 Dallas will host its inaugural PARK(ing) Day event to take place during the hours of 11am to 7pm…. More than 40 metered parking spots along Main Street from Downtown Dallas to Deep Ellum will be transformed into temporary public spaces. The driving force behind this international movement is to not only to have a fun event, but also to portray the need and desire for public space in downtown areas such as Dallas.

Deep Dallas has signed on to head up the Entertainment Committee for PARK(ing) Day Dallas. We plan to organize over 30 local musicians, poets and performers to provide entertainment throughout the day.

If you are a musician, performer and/or poet who would like to volunteer to play the event please contact Jessica Martinez at jessica@deepdallas.com for booking. Considering this is Dallas’ first PARK(ing) Day event we anticipate lots of media coverage.
